AMEYzing Photography

When I first came to Shanghai, I was surprised by the amount of Art Deco architecture in this city. I really loved the dominating character that these buildings possess over their surroundings and I decided to create a photo-project featuring Art Deco Architecture.

The main source of visual inspiration for this photo project has been ‘Batman: The Animated Series’. This is a television series that all the Batman fans adore and everyone has seen it when they were growing up. I was totally mesmerized by the portrayal of Gotham city in this series. Through my project, I tried to synergize the complexity, darker tone, artistic quality, noir imagery of Batman animated series and the architectural quality of Art Deco buildings in Shanghai, resulting in Dark Deco series.
